Description of the organization

Sapienza University of Rome is the largest university in Europe and the second in the world for number of
students and the wide academic offer includes over 250 degree programmes, 200 one or two year
professional courses and more than 100 PhD programmes. Sapienza plans and carries out important
scientific investigations in almost all disciplines, achieving high-standard results both on a national and on
an international level, thanks to the work of its 11 faculties, 66 departments and several centres devoted to
scientific research.
The research activities related to the LISSEN project are mainly in the fields of: high efficiency batteries,
including lithium-ion and metal hydride batteries, Polymer Membrane Fuel Cells, PMFCs and biologic fuel
cells. Particular attention is also devoted to new procedures for the synthesis on a nano scale of electrodes
and electrolyte materials. The scientific and technological objectives also include the development of
prototypes in collaboration with industry.
Tasks attributed within the project

Scientific coordinator and leader of WP4 Optimization of the electrolyte materials. Task leader for
optimizing the nanostructures of tin and silicon-based anodes (WP 5), it also participates to the synthesis
and characterization of nano structured electrode and electrolyte materials (WP 4-5) as we all as to the
optimization of cell design (WP 6). Furthermore, UNIROMA1 participates in WP 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10 and 11.
